Game Day Meatballs

Game Day Meatballs
We spend many Saturday's and Sunday's tailgating for football games. Any time there is tailgating there's good fellowship and good food (not to mention the good drinks)! With the Super Bowl just a week away, I thought it fitting to share some of our favorite game day tailgating recipes. I hope you enjoy these great and EASY recipes as much as we do! - GO PACK GO!

Game Day Meatballs
Ingredients
2 pkgs Frozen precooked Italian Meatballs
1 (32oz) Jar of grape jelly (NOT JAM!) - We use Welches Grape Jelly
1 (32 oz) Squeeze Bottle of ketchup

Directions
Combine listed ingredients in a Slow Cooker (aka Crock-pot). Turn heat to "Medium" or "High" heat depending on when you need them ready. Stir occasionally to get all of the ingredients combined. Once the meatballs are "fork tender" take one out and taste it. If it's still cool in the middle, let them cook a little longer. If it's good and hot...it's ready to serve.  If it's reached the serving stage be sure to turn down your slow cooker to "keep warm" or "low" temperature setting.

If you are expecting a large crowd just double the recipe as follows.

3-4 pkgs Frozen precooked Italian Meatballs
2 (32oz) Jars of grape jelly (NOT JAM!) - We use Welches Grape Jelly
1 (64 oz) Squeeze Bottle of ketchup
Cook using the directions above.

Will post a picture tutorial soon on littlejudys.com so check back soon!

  6. I love these! I make the same way, but add about 1/4 cup lemon juice.
The chili sauce and jellied cranberry sauce sounds like a good reason to make them again!

  7. How long in the crock pot do the frozen meatballs have to cook if they are on high (for two packages)?

    1. I would say 2.5 - 3 hours. It will too depend on the outside heat some too. If your outside and it's cool it will take longer say 4 hours. If your outside and its a hot game day it might take just 2-3. hrs. I recommend to stir them occasionally too. This will speed up the progress. When in doubt, start them early and if they are getting done too fast, set it back to low or warm while taking the lid off to cool them a bit and slow the cooking. Let me know if you have any other questions! Cheers!
