Great Gadgets & Gear

"Created for all of the klutzy, spontaneous, chaotic, graceless individuals who have broken a device or valuable in their active lifestyle." OtterBox is the solution to the expensive mistakes that most of us make.  From E-Readers, iPads, MP3 Players, & cell/smart phones, OtterBox has you covered... literally. Their reputation precedes them when it comes to all out protection of our devices (see video below). My OtterBox (Defender series) saved my iphone just today when it slammed into my cement floor in our garage. I had my hands full as I was getting out of the car and simply forgot that it was in my lap... after the solid hit to the cement and heart started beating again, I brought myself to assess the damage. There was NONE! Still works like a charm like it did right out of the box. No cracked screen/glass. The OtterBox is without a mark as well. OtterBox saved the day. I figure, with the high cost of technology, it's only right to insure and ensure our things from our sometimes graceless lifestyles. Don't make the mistake of putting it off. It will only cost you more in the end. Check out this little clip of the OtterBox Defender being put to the test. Then checkout to find out more.

Fruit Salsa

Image from Cassie Craves since all of mine was eaten b4 taking a pic :-)

1 Bag Frozen Fruit mixture - Let thaw for about 30 minutes and chop to desired size pieces.(Fresh fruit is awesome if it's in season, but I don't have time to prep it all so I use frozen.)
  • 1-2 Tbsp White Sugar
  • 1/2 - 1  Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1-3 Tbsp of Fruit Preserves of your choice - any flavor (Will find this with Jelly and Jams.)
  • 1 Pkg (8 or 10 inch) Flour tortillas
  • Butter flavored cooking spray (Like PAM)
  • 2 Tbsp cinnamon sugar (Make your own using 1 C White Sugar and 1-2 Tbsp Cinnamon depending on how much cinnamon you like). Have cinnamon sugar mix in a bowl that you can dredge tortilla wedges in.

  • Directions
  1. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix chopped fruit, white sugar, brown sugar and fruit preserves. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  3. Spray each side of each flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Cut into wedges. Dredge tortilla wedges in cinnamon sugar and arrange in a single layer on a large baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes. Repeat with any remaining tortilla wedges. Allow to cool and serve with chilled fruit mixture.

Note: I make my tortilla wedges a day ahead and store in a ziplock bag to save time. I have my fruit thawed and chopped as well.  The next day I will mix as directed about 3-4 hours before it's time to serve. Enjoy!

iPre-ordered Did You?

If you're already a Verizon Wireless customer, Today at 3 AM (eastern time) you are allowed to pre-order the VZW version of Apple's popular iPhone 4. Others that wish to obtain the device will have the chance to do so by reserving theirs on February 9th. They can then pick up at their local Apple store or VZW store Feb. 10th. Both Apple and VZW stores are reporting that they will open their doors at 7 AM on Feb 10. If you did or are going to pre-order today, the phone is expected to be at your door "on or before the 10th". VZW expects to move millions of the mobile devices, and have apparently sent memos to their employees asking them to refrain from buying the iPhone 4 to allow the public to have a better chance to obtain one.

The sparks will only get hotter between AT&T and VZW. Blogs, Twitter, and Facebook have people pitted against each other claiming their network uses the device better. However, this video from CNET sheds a little light on which network does the best at what. But, like with everything, take it with a grain of salt. AT&T iPhone 4 vs Verizon iPhone 4

More to come...
